2.) An interval of distance or time between two points, objects, or events. A blank or empty area: the spaces between words.
3.) A blank portion or area
4.) An area provided for a particular purpose.
5.) A period or interval of time.

Performance and Space
1.Performance happens in a particular space and time. Space allows performances to happen.
2. At the same time, performances frame, circumscribe, and organize space.
3.Theatrical space almost but not always brackets the performance as fiction.
4.The social space is widened through globalization, creating new spaces such as the global and local.
5.Technology allows to create virtual spaces, and in these spaces, we create and perform alternative identities of ourselves.
6.These changes in spaces result in different types of transitions as performers, spectators, performers-spectators.
7.Through the opening of different spaces, the idea of spectatorship also changes. Through the global processes, we become more immediate spectators of transnational performances.
8.Through technology, our conception of performance and spectatorship, fiction and reality, becomes more blurred.

Theatre Space:
“Corral de Comedias”: the space-buildings where the performances settle in Spain, in the late 16th century. It is very similar at other traditional buildings as the Elizabethan stage.

Characters in traditional theatre are conceived as a fiction and are represented by actors. The character, “I,” is fictional

Virtual Space:
“E-dentity” (Second life concept): online and digital identity. The online equivalent of an individual human being, which participates in electronic transactions on behalf of the person in question. users can represent themselves.

Most Internet users prefer to identify themselves by means of pseudonyms, which reveal varying amounts of personally identifiable information.

In the virtual space, e-dentity allows us to create an alternative version of ourselves, an alter ego, the ideal version of ourselves. We can even create more than one identity, and switch from one to another. Even in online messaging systems such as MSN and Facebook, where we are supposed to be ourselves, we are actually playing versions of ourselves. Our identities have been reconstituted by the medium. Meanwhile, we also become spectators of our own lives and voyeurs of the fictional lives of others.

Social Space:
Globalization: the development of an increasingly integrated global economy marked especially by free trade, free flow of capital, and the tapping of cheaper foreign labor markets.

The global is a space opened by globalization. It is a type of organizing our social space. The process of globalization allows us to become spectators of different cultures, not only through theatre, but also through travel and technology.

Technology allows to create virtual spaces and identities. The concept of space is changed. And our relationship to the different spaces (virtual and social) and to our identities is also changed. Now we need passwords and barcodes to access and process our lives (information, communication, transactions).
